Spending time with family, volunteer service, trading the financial markets, music, golfing, mountaineering, race walking, genealogy, and journalizing in his personal blog. 

Additional Info: Mr. Carlson resides in Spanish Fork with his wife Jill. They have been married for thirty-six years and have raised five children; four boys and one girl. They currently have eleven grandchildren. Throughout the years he has coached little league baseball, football, and basketball in the community youth programs. He has volunteered his time in various non-profit organizations, the scouting program and served in the Utah National Guard for over twenty years. Mr. Carlson looks forward to his 13th year of formal teaching and his first year of teaching at Noah Webster Academy.

  • Watching the "light" turn on in a scholar who has been struggling with a subject concept
  • Modeling for scholars how to change from having a fixed mindset to having a growth mindset
  • Encouraging scholars to persevere and transform from "answer finders" into "problem solvers"
  • Teaching scholars good manners and the importance of practicing love, kindness, forgiveness, and gratitude on a consistent basis
