1st Grade
Extension 101
Room 101

I am the oldest of three girls. My dad had the opportunity to transfer around a bit with his job as we grew up so I spent my childhood in Missouri and Alabama and my teen years in Ogden, Utah. Upon my graduation from high school, we moved from Utah back to Alabama where I earned my teaching degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. After graduating from UAH, I moved back to Missouri for a few more years to be closer to extended family and eventually made my way all the way back to Utah- completing the circle.  I’m thankful for the opportunity to have moved around and for the exposure I’ve had to different subcultures of the U.S.

I have been working in Utah schools for six years- two as a reading and math instructor and four as a classroom teacher. This school year will be my fourth year at Noah Webster Academy. I love working on the NWA team because it actually feels like a team (a rare gem in my experience). Our administration genuinely cares about the needs of our families and our staff. Our teachers genuinely like each other, and our scholars and parents are the best on the planet!!! I especially enjoy teaching first grade because of the massive academic and emotional growth that I get to watch unfold and the humor and honesty that fills each day.

When I’m not at school, you might find me working on some right brained project (art, music, writing- I’m a “jack of all [right-brained] trades but a master of none”) or researching something that has recently provoked my curiosity. If I have several days off in a row, you might find me at the airport since my family is spread out across six states and I do miss them. I love to learn, travel, and make new friends, and I especially love getting to spend my days with children!
