Kindergarten - Monroe

Hi, everyone! We had an awesome week learning about all four seasons, the number 0, and starting work on our very own class picture book! Next week will be all about writing letter D and number 4, more counting and matching in math, and doing science with apples!

We are excited to announce that we have a take-home reader program called “Reading for All Learners” to be used in Kindergarten. The books gradually increase in difficulty as new letters and sounds are introduced. Your child will be given one book at a time in a large Ziploc bag with a sign-off sheet and returned to school as soon as they have read it fluently (reading it on his/her own without a struggle 3 times). Sign the page when you feel your scholar has mastered the current book so the parent volunteer will know to give them the next one. Please note that there is a $5.00 replacement fee if the books get lost or damaged.  Thank you so much for all you do to help your child become an amazing reader this year!

I also wanted to remind you that our first field trip is coming up! On October 3rd we’ll be taking a bus up to Cornbelly’s! All classes will arrive at school at 9:00 AM on that day.

The math homework folder is empty this week because we won't have any IXL assignments. You are always welcome to practice the lessons we've already worked on, but the homework will be sent home in paper format this week.

Please always feel free to contact me at: ‚Äčbmonroe@mynwa.us
